7 questions to Vlad Kreimer (SOMA Laboratory)

Vlad KreimerVlad Kreimer, the founder of SOMA Laboratory, comes without a lab coat. In our interview he tells us how he got into music, who he would like to use his devices and which device from another manufacturer he would love to have invented.

DelayDude:
How did you get into music?

Vlad Kreimer:
Music has been my best friend since childhood, when I began listening to tapes that my father recorded from radio. I’m very sensitive to the world of sound.

DelayDude:
And how did you come to found SOMA Laboratory in 2016?

Vlad Kreimer:
It was unexpected. I had built self-made synths for my own musical project and created several demos. This led to a huge amount of worldwide interest in my developments.

DelayDude:
So many famous musicians are using your devices – is there someone whom you wish he/she would play one of your devices?

Vlad Kreimer:
Arca, Yasutaka Nakata, Keiji Haino, Snowthaproduct, Нина Потехина, Bjork and many others, who push music forward.

DelayDude:
If you would have to choose one single device, you will have to use for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

Vlad Kreimer:
My personal brain.

DelayDude:
Is there a device of another manufacturer of which you wish, you would have invented it?

Vlad Kreimer:
Theremin

DelayDude:
What does your recent rig look like?

Vlad Kreimer:
Mostly as empty shelves. I’m not a collector. I have lovely old synths from my youth that I consider my lifetime friends and generally that’s all.

DelayDude:
Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?

Vlad Kreimer:
Helping people get more consciousness \ mindfulness.
