The Akai Headrush E2 is a digital delay pedal with tape echo emulation.
The quality of the tape echo emulation is not comparable to the emulations that can be created by using todays state-of-the-art but nevertheless, this pedal was a pioneer in this field when it debuted.
Besides incredible 23,8 seconds maximum delay time, it also offers tap tempo and four mono outputs. Thereby, you can lead the repeats to four different amplifiers.
One searches in vain for modulation, midi- or expression-pedal input, true bypass or the possibility to run the Akai Headrush E2 on battery.
However, the tone pot makes this, because of its size less pedalboard-friendly stompbox, quite flexible. And last but not least, it convinces for its integrated looper.
The Akai Headrush E2 is not manufactured anymore and because of its status as a pioneer regarding digital tape echo emulations, it’s a 6 of 10 on the cult factor scale.
