The Chase Bliss Mood MK II is ambient music in a pedal. Far away from the “happy accidents” that are hyped in many forums, you can learn to understand this pedal and thus create sounds that can become the soundtrack of your life or of a great movie. Of course you can also use the pedal as a reverb, MIDI synchronized delay or reverse pitch delay, but the Mood MK II can do so much more. It wants to play with sounds, alienate them and discover new worlds of sound. No matter whether with the guitar or the synthesizer, the sound is always marvellous and spherical. Compared to its predecessor, the MK I, the Chase Bliss Mood MK II has some features and sound options that definitely justify switching to the recent version.
After a long time of waiting, the next SUPERBOOTH will take place from 15 to 18 September 2021 in Berlin. In 2020 the SUPERBOOTH had to be cancelled, but this year the world of synth will be back in the FEZ in Berlin again. Continue reading “Superbooth 21”
This is a comparison of the Moog Moogerfooger with the Chase Bliss Audio Thermae. Both are analog delay pedals with a very nice modulation. For the Chase Bliss Audio Thermae offers the pitch modulation as a special feature, I tried to emulate this kind of pitch modulation with the Moogerfooger by using the internal modulation. The last three soundfiles of this Video are dedicated to this sonic experiment. In the last part, I created the Moog “pitch modulation” by changing the position of the Short/Long switch manually. Of course, this can also be done automatically via midi.
Last year (after several years of playing the guitar) I finally bought my first effect pedals: the Walrus Audio Slö, the Earthquaker Devices Westwood and the Ditto looper. I mostly listen to minimal, indie and ambient and therefore, I would love to create such sounds myself. But unfortunately, I have not made up my mind about a specific sound.Continue reading “Which pedal should I get?”
Recently, I received the following request: I moved on from a DOD Rubberneck due to its size, and I am considering a Walrus Audio ARP 87. I would really like a full analog delay in small size, but the Chase Bliss Audio is way above my budget and I didn’t really like the JHS Panther Cub in relation to its price. Is there any other delay you would recommend? I want something with tap tempo and a small footprint…Continue reading “Which pedal should I get: Walrus Audio ARP 87 or DOD Rubberneck?”
Today, almost every musician records his/her music at home. Mostly via a soundcard directly into a DAW. There, you will find numerous VST effects to create a sophisticated sound. But many effect pedals as well are also suitable for recording. Continue reading “Effect pedals for recording”
For some time, the British band Amber is no longer an insider’s tip and songs like “I found” and “no answers” are definitively high-class tunes. But their pedalboards also offer some cuties that will make the hearts of guitarists beat faster. Continue reading “Sound like: Amber Run”
This is a comparison of the Way Huge Supa-Puss with the Chase Bliss Audio Tonal Recall rkm. Find out more about the sound of these wunderful analog delay pedals. You will get to know different settings, slow and fast modulation and how they both might sound in the mix.
This is a comparison of the Chase Bliss Audio THERMAE with Eventide ROSE. To get close to the brightest setting of the THERMAE, I reduced the filter of the ROSE. You will also get a demo of a darker setting, slow modulation and how both of delay pedals may sound in the mix. For pitch shifting effects, I added an expression pedal to the ROSE delay.
This is the third and last part of the video of creating anbient sounds with the Chase Bliss Audio Thermae. In this video I used a POG2 to create a bass-like guitar sound, which than has been pitched one octave up by the Thermae. Thereby you can create nice lofi sounds.
Everything in sync with the DelayDude Midi Sync Cable.
Frequently, you will find effect pedals that do not meet the needs of many guitarists. I think, that application errors or wrong expectations mostly lead to such an underestimation of certain effect pedals. Here I would like to present some examples. Continue reading “Underrated effect pedals”
This is a video about the pitch shifting function of the Chase Bliss Audio Thermae. For this pedal is too complex to do a simple demo video, I decided to present the Thermae inSync in the context of a whole song. The Thermae is accompanied by the Montreal Assembly Count to Five, the Cooper FX Generation Loss, the Origin Effects Cali 76 as well as by the Source Audio Ventris. All bass parts are created via the Electro Harmonix POG2. Looped with the DigiTech JamMan SoloXT. By using the DelayDude Midi Sync Cable, the JamMan SoloXT as well as the delay speed are send via the DigiTech SDRUM (master clock).
