This is a comparison of the DOD Rubberneck with the Erica Synths Zen Delay For both delays do not have true bypass, I used a true bypass looper (Lehle Parallel) for the audio recording. The Zen Delay does not provide an analog mode. Via the filter settings, I formed an analog-like sound in the digital delay mode. And the Rubberneck is, what it is: a great dark and gritty analog delay.
This is a comparison of the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo with the Erica Synths Zen Delay For both delays do not have true bypass, I used a true bypass looper (Lehle Parallel) for the audio recording. I would like to present some sonic options by using different modes and filters of the Erica Synths Zen Delay and varying speeds and a higher record level for tape saturation of the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo.
This is a demo of the Erica Synths Zen Delay. Initially, it has been designed for synthesizer players. But it is absolutely recommendable for guitarists. Learn more about the extensive functions, filters and the different modes of this awesome pedal.
This is a comparison of three different types of delays all accompanied by the AnalogMan King of Tone. For this demo I used a dark analog delay (DOD Rubberneck), a digital delay (Strymon DIG) and a tape delay(Fulltone Tube Tape Echo). The first 25 seconds you can hear a sneak peak of each type of delay accompanied by the King of Tone. Learn more about the how the King of Tone affects every single type of delay depending on the respective kind of playing (palm mutes, modulation, in the mix).
The Empress Tape Delay is a nearly pedalboard-friendly digital delay. To be precise, this pedal is the light- version of the Empress Superdelay VM (vintage modified), which Empress developed in collaboration with Pro Guitarshop.com. Continue reading “Empress Tape Delay”
Recently, I found the following request in my mailbox:
“I think, I actually would need a Binson Echorec, but they are in fact beyond price. I love the flutter echo mash, that the Echorec is able to create. In the meantime, I think, that an analog delay is able to produce every sound, I long for. Digital delays with analog emulation do not sound that nice to me. But at the same time, I don’t want to get into dept. Could you tell me, if the Ibanez Echo Shifter might be a suitable pedal for me? Especially in contrast to the Ibanez analog delay, AD9, mini or even the EHX Memory Toy? I have already tried to many sappy pedals. Right now, I do (still!) use the Hardwire DL8. But in my opinion, it is too cold and inorganic.”Continue reading “Ask the Dude: Is there a pedal sounding like the Binson Echorec?”
Concerning the categorization of delay pedals, guitarists mostly refer to analog delays, tape delays and digital delay pedals. But one true classic is often overlooked because it is pretty rare and only available in used condition: the Binson Echorec. Continue reading “Binson Echorec”
This is a comparison of the Maxon AD-900 with the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo. The comparison of an analog delay with a tape echo might be a bit extraordinary – but these two classics can definitvely compete with each other.
