recently.
Although they share a lot of similarities (like Tap Tempo, modulation and long delay time) and cost about the same amount, there are some differences that predestine each of them for varying applications.

DOD Rubberneck

The sound of the DOD Rubberneck is definitively oriented to the sound of its own ancestor, the DOD 680 Analog Delay.
It has got much midrange and provides the rough sound of a marvelous vintage delay.
By using the tone pot you can set beautiful dark delays.
The Rubberneck is perfect to create ambient sound and soundscapes.
The gain pot enables you to produce grittier delays.
All pots are quite interactive and offer numerous setting options.

The special thing about the Rubberneck is the rubberneck effect which allows you to create gorgeous tape-modulation-effects or even extreme pitch effects.
This is absolutely unique.

MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe

The MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe offers the possibility to choose between the “dark” and the “bright” version.
To me it is pretty interesting that the “dark” sound of the Carbon Copy Deluxe is not as dark as the sound of the original Carbon Copy.
The Carbon Copy Deluxe is very percussive and is really suitable for rhythmical delays.
The modulation fits perfectly.
Looking into the instructions of this pedal worth it for by using the expression pedal input you can also adjust plentiful additional functions.
It is, for example, possible to switch between two presets (or crossfade infinitely with the expression pedal), connect an external tap pedal, to control the modulation or the bright/dark switch by an external footswitch or, of course, use an expression pedal.

Both pedals run on 9V (where the Carbon Copy Deluxe needs less mA) which makes them pretty pedalboard-friendly.
But you should keep some space on your pedalboard for an external footswitch or an expression pedal – it is worth it.

Regardless of which pedal you choose, you will get a beautiful sounding extensively equipped analog delay.

Click here for a comparison of both analog delays.

Sorry, this entry is only
