This is why I would like to describe only some selected sounds.
Common to all engines is, that they can be routed in different ways. Thus, you can use them separately, parallel, serial or left/right. By using diverse engines with altering delay time ratios, you will be able to create every kind of sound, a delay has ever made. Form crazy rhythms to endless ambient soundscapes – everything is possible.

The Echosystem works with very littles besides noise and the ranges of the pots are constructed practice-oriented and logically. Set to 12 o’clock, the tone pot is neutral. Turned into clockwise direction, the delay sound will become brighter. By reducing the tone, you will get darker repeats. The respective modulation can be adjusted very well. From a decent floating to a crazy wobbling.

Digital

To many manufacturers it seems pretty complicated to create a frank digital delay algorithm. Mostly, the sound thin and lifeless. Or, to avoid running any risk, the algorithm is too dark and lovely.
The digital delay of the Echosystem is convincing for it is clear and direct, with the required treble without sounding thin. Absolutely well done!

Tape

The tape mode offers the most important classics of the tape echo history: New tape (a well-maintained tape delay with a new tape), old tape (a worn-out edition with lots of wow and flutter), Echoplex and Space Echo.
The tape sounds are beautifully percussive and clear. Depending on the setting of Thing 1 and Thing 2, you can add a convincing droning. By using two tape sounds serial with varying ratio settings, you can also emulate a tape echo with several repeat heads.

Analog

The analog sounds are somehow darker and richer. The Thing 1 pot that controls the saturation, can be used to thicken the sound even further. In this case, you will actually get the sound of an analog delay. The tone pot allows to adjust sounds from a bright analog delay to a dark dub echo.

Multi

Since I first used the Empress Superdelay, multi is one of my favorites. You can tap different rhythms. Means, an instant multi head delay. It is incredible how versatile a delay with such a function can be, for it is possible to adjust different rhythms according to the respective emphasis. Really inspiring and perfect for songwriting.

Mod

The mod algorithm offers different kinds of modulation: time based with varying waveforms and volume-based ones to create tremolo effects.
The panning delay makes the repeats float back and forth and thereby creates a marvelous atmosphere.

Stay curious. In the third and last part of this review you will learn all about the extensive and brilliant sonic possibilities of the Empress Echosystem.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1683,1681,693,263,268,3
1272,335,86,392,64,393,96,2123,1274,304,468,2513,1635,1841,248,1364,97,127,82,2512,120,115,445,617,121,1199,961,1675,2483,1348,1745,2336,2511
post-4107","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-delays","category-digital-delays-pedals","category-empress","category-pedalboard","category-pedals","category-effektgeraete","tag-algorithm","tag-ambient","tag-amp","tag-analog","tag-delay","tag-digital","tag-echoplex","tag-echosystem","tag-effect-pedal","tag-empress","tag-emulation","tag-engine","tag-filter","tag-gear","tag-guitar","tag-lo-fi","tag-looper","tag-mod","tag-modulation","tag-multi-head","tag-pedal","tag-pedalboard","tag-reverb","tag-reverse","tag-review","tag-sound","tag-space-echo","tag-stereo","tag-stutter","tag-tape","tag-testbericht","tag-update","tag-whisky
The Empress Echosystem is an extensive equipped delay (or rather two delay engines) in a compact enclosure.
