Mostly via a soundcard directly into a DAW.
There, you will find numerous VST effects to create a sophisticated sound.
But many effect pedals as well are also suitable for recording.
You can use them directly while you are recording or you can use a DI box for a simple reamping.

Overdrive and booster

For most guitar effect pedals provide a very nice sound, the effort is worth it. In addition, you can also use them for the mix down or to transform individual tracks.
Thus, it can be pretty exciting to add some analog warmth to the vocals by using a high-quality tube preamp like the Kingsley Page. Thereby you will get sonic possibilities from a subtle boost to a vintage overdrive.
If you like a little more distortion, or if you want to add some analog grit to your drum computer or your VST drums, you can use distortion pedals like the Proco Rat.

Modulation

The Strymon Deco is the perfect allrounder for vintage fans. Its saturation-, delay- and modulation effects almost emulate the characteristic sound of the Abbey Road Studios.
You can use it for nearly every instrument to make the sound more vivid.
Some kind of vinyl feeling arises if you use the Cooper FX Generation Loss or the Chase Bliss Audio Warped Vinyl. These pedals can also be used for the mix down to move the whole composition together. But, be careful: in this case, more is less. These effects should be used quite decent.

Compression

Studio compressors are expensive and rare. But by using the MXR DynaComp, you will get analog compression for a nice price.
Those, who already own the Origin Effects Cali76 can sonically get close to the recording classic Urei 1176.

Delay and reverb

Where ever, whenever: delay and reverb effects rule. And they do not fall short of expensive studio equipment.
While you are reamping, you can play around with different settings.

The effect types, mentioned above are perfect to assemble a whole recording pedalboard.
In this context, you should also take care of a well-done wiring and a good power supply to avoid humming and besides noise.

Mostly, it is much more inspiring, to use real knobs and pots instead of virtual imitations.
And if you already own these pedals, it may worth it, to let them enter a world away from the rehearsal or the stage.

I hope, you enjoy exploring it.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

677,2313,1683,1681,1206,691,1050,259,263,268,788,675,271,973
3048,392,3042,3043,466,719,2825,64,3045,393,246,294,3047,1813,2616,1042,248,318,1888,82,2172,2279,215,3050,81,120,115,781,3044,201,3046,999,1199,10,411,3049,1234,3051,1719,2752
post-4663","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-chase-bliss-audio","category-cooper-fx","category-delays","category-digital-delays-pedals","category-kingsley","category-mxr","category-origin-effects","category-overdrive-pedals","category-pedalboard","category-pedals","category-proco","category-strymon","category-tape-delays","category-tips-tricks","tag-abbey-road-studios","tag-analog","tag-aufnahmen","tag-aufnehmen","tag-boost","tag-chase-bliss-audio-warped-vinyl","tag-daw","tag-delay","tag-di-box","tag-digital","tag-distortion","tag-drum-computer","tag-drums","tag-effect","tag-effekte","tag-gitarre","tag-guitar","tag-homerecording","tag-kingsley-page","tag-modulation","tag-music","tag-musik","tag-mxr-dynacomp","tag-origin-effects-cali76","tag-overdrive","tag-pedal","tag-pedalboard","tag-proco-rat","tag-reamping","tag-recording","tag-roehren-preamp","tag-saturation","tag-sound","tag-strymon-deco","tag-studio","tag-the-cooperfx-generation-loss","tag-tube-preamp","tag-urei-1176","tag-vintage","tag-vst
Hardware vs. Software:This is a comparison of the Strymon Volante with the Soundtoys Echoboy VST Plugin.
