I am very pleased that the American has given up the arms trade and is now concentrating entirely on his passion, music. But we didn’t talk about weapons and so David told me which pedal he would choose if he was only allowed to use one device for the rest of his life, what he might have done differently in retrospect and, above all, which question, which he finally wants to answer, but which no one has ever asked him before.

From the beginning

DelayDude:
How did you get into music?

David Packouz:
I’ve been singing since I was a small child. My Mother is a great singer and guitar player, so we would sing harmonies together and when I was 15 she got me started on guitar.

DelayDude:
So many famous musicians are using your devices – is there someone whom you wish he/she would play one of your devices?

David Packouz:
I would love for Marc Rebillet to use our looper, the Aeros Loop Studio. He seemed very interested until he realized that it doesn’t have an XLR input (because we primarily designed it for guitarists) so he’d have to use a Microphone pre-amp – which was too much of a hassle for him. I would say that the Aeros is such a better looper than anything else out there that it’s worth using a Microphone pre-amp with it. I’d also love for Ed Sheeran to try it out.

DelayDude:
If you would have to choose one single device, you will have to use for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

David Packouz:
The BeatBuddy. Having a fun drum machine that sounds amazing and can be used hands free is an incredible tool for any musician.

DelayDude:
Is there a device of another manufacturer of which you wish, you would have invented it?

David Packouz:
I think the Roadie Tuner is a brilliant device – I wish I had invented that.

Davids rig and special inventions

DelayDude:
What does your recent rig look like?

David Packouz:
I have a BeatBuddy, MIDI Maestro and Aeros Loop Studio on my pedalboard, of course. I also use a few Cabli units to keep my cables nice and neat and so I can wind them up quickly after a show. I also use the Hotone Ampero, Pigtronix Distortion and the TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2.

DelayDude:
Is there a question regarding your work, you would really love to answer to but that nobody asks?

David Packouz:
Yes: Have you been working on any products not in the music industry? I have! Check out instafloss.com– the world’s first device that flosses all of your teeth in 10 seconds.

DelayDude:
Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently? And could you tell us something about your experiences with crowdfunding?

David Packouz:
There are many things I would have done differently. I would have included an XLR jack in the Aeros. I would have built the BeatBuddy Manager software to be more future proof (we are currently rebuilding it from the ground up). I would have made the Aeros buttons completely silent in the first place (we fixed that with the Aeros Gold Edition).

Regarding crowdfunding, the most important thing for a successful crowdfunding campaign is to have enough interested people signed up to a mailing list before you start. People think that the crowdfunding platform brings the supporters to you, but that’s not true. The platform only promotes you if it thinks you will be a successful campaign – and it only thinks that if you have a lot of supporters in the early parts of the campaign. So building up an email list of interested people before starting the campaign is critical.

At this point the Team DelayDude and would like to thank David for answering the 7 questions of the DelayDude and perhaps we will check our dental floss situation right away 😉

Click here to enter the Singular website.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1379,263,268,3878
3880,3748,3879,2107,3887,3883,3881,1274,1871,1814,1841,1042,248,3886,1378,97,3882,3885,2172,120,3884,3250
post-6196","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-7-fragen-an","category-pedalboard","category-pedals","category-singular-sound","tag-aeros-loop-station","tag-amazona","tag-beatbuddy","tag-berlin","tag-crowdfunding","tag-david-packouz","tag-ed-sheeran","tag-effect-pedal","tag-effekt-pedal","tag-fx","tag-gear","tag-gitarre","tag-guitar","tag-instafloss","tag-interview","tag-looper","tag-marc-rebillet","tag-midi-maestro","tag-music","tag-pedal","tag-singular-sound","tag-werkstatt
This is a Comparison of the Boss DD-7 with the Walrus Audio ARP-87.
