\"\"<\/a>2017 numerous new pedals were put on the market. Especially for delays it seems that the Golden age has come. There have been some interesting innovations for both, the analog (because of the reissue of the MN2005-chip) and the digital delays. <\/p>\n

Chase Bliss Audio Tonal Recall RKM<\/h2>\n

The analog Tonal Recall<\/a> by Chase Bliss Audio with a digital control came out last year. The RKM-version (red knob mod) is an improved version of the first one. The maximum delaytime has been doubled up to 1,2 seconds.<\/p>\n

Because of this mod even the shorter delaytimes become much clearer, so the purchase may be quite interesting although you might think that you do not need such extended delaytimes. The RKM-version is a bit brighter but can be attenuated (just like the previous version) with the tone pot. The oscillation of the delay has been modified too. The repeats built up themselves more slowly before they become uncontrollable.<\/p>\n

The first version of the Tonal Recall has got a more percussive attack. But it also puts a little more \u201cdirt\u201d into the sound. The RKM sounds more clean and clear. On the whole I think that the RMK is a felicitous update.<\/p>\n

MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe<\/h2>\n

For some time past the MXR Carbon Copy<\/a> was successful in the battle against more expensive boutique-delays. Although it does not have as many features as other pedals, the Carbon Copy always fits pretty nice into the sound.
\nThe new Deluxe-version now has been upgraded by adding a tap function. Besides it has a small switch to elect between the normal Carbon Copy-sound and the sound of the Bright Carbon Copy which appeared a bit later.
\nNot least the modulation, which before only could have been switched on or off and adjusted with a small internally trim-pot, now is completely controllable.<\/p>\n

Catalinbread Belle Epoch Deluxe<\/h2>\n

The Belle Epoch<\/a>\u00a0 by Catalinbread is considered to be one of the best emulations of the legendary Echoplex EP-3.
\nThe now released Deluxe-version reproduces internally the preamp of the EP-3 completely. This includes the use of high-quality parts and a higher internally current voltage. Besides, a modulation which is controllable by a foot-switch, has been added.<\/p>\n

The new Andromeda Delay<\/a> by Seymour Duncan could be pretty interesting for those who mourn their TC 2290. It is an extensive stereodelay with numerous features. Stereo-in- and output, midi, analog and digital sounds, dynamic delays and much more. Of course the Andromeda has a tap tempo function and modulation.<\/p>\n

DOD Rubberneck<\/h2>\n

The DOD Rubberneck\u00a0<\/a> promises some interesting options. By the gain and the tone pot it can be adjusted to your very own soundideas. The Rubberneck has a tap tempo and two special features: the Rubberneck and controllable oscillation. The Rubberneck changes infinitely variable between two delaytimes and creates pitchshifting by this.
\nWith a external foot-switch you can also tap, activate the modulation and control the Rubberneck.<\/p>\n

Mad Professor Deep Blue Deluxe<\/h2>\n

Mad Professor extended the Deep Blue delay. The Deep Blue<\/a> is a digital delay with an analog sound. Numerous professional musicians already use the first version because it is easy to handle and sounds pretty nice. The new version enables you to choose with a foot-switch between to delaytimes. A short one that is optimized for slapback echos and a longer one that goes up to 900ms.<\/p>\n

Wampler the Doctor<\/h2>\n

Wampler too brought out something new concerning their delay-range. \u201cThe Doctor<\/a>\u201d is a Lo-Fi-delay with tap tempo and modulation. It has been developed in collaboration with Brad Paisley and provides a huge variety of sounds \u2013 from a slapback to long layers. It is supposed to have a dirty character and is appropriate to sound freaks that prefer an extensive delay without deep menus.<\/p>\n

Walrus Audio ARP-87<\/h2>\n

The Arp-87<\/a> by Walrus Audio could already have been seen on the Musikmesse Frankfurt 2017. In a modified version it now presents itself as a multi-delay with digital, analog, slapback and long delays. Of course it has got tap tempo and a x-pot which can adopt varying functions.
\nThis delay really provides many functions and thereby only needs little space on the pedalboard.<\/p>\n

JHS Pedals Pink Panther<\/h2>\n

JHS put a new digital delay on the market. In the sense of the DD-2 the Pink Panther<\/a> convinces by its clear sound and is pretty suitable for rhytmic delays. Another option is the tape-delay-sound. By these two tone-options it is able to create several sounds and might be able to replace several other delays on a pedalboard. With functions like tap tempo, modulation and tone it is quite flexible.<\/p>\n

The most extensive delay surely is the Empress Echosystem<\/a>. Even without a display is has got several delaysounds, presets and functions. Exceptional is, that two independent delays can be used at the same time. Especially because of its stereo-function this is a very interesting feature. I think there is no delaysound that cannot be created by this delay.<\/p>\n
