Arturia MicroFreak with reverb pedals for guitars

In this second part of my two-part series, I would like to show you how you can combine a synthesizer like the Arturia MicroFreak with reverb effect pedals for guitars as a small suggestion for sound experiments. As already shown in the first part about the combination with delay pedals, this relationship can also open up completely new worlds of sound. Have fun trying.

Reverse delay trouble

A readers question to the DelayDude:

For a new song, I used a chord sequence recorded with a reverse delay. I think, in my own case this is an appropriate substitute for an extensive synth sound.
But I recognized that it is pretty hard to control the reverse delay and now, I am not able to reproduce my record exactly. I have the feeling that it does whatever it wants to do. Somehow, the rhythm of the reverse signal varies each time.
I am not sure, if this is problem only occurs in my setup but I tried my best to describe the trouble.
At the moment I am using the reverse delay of the Boss ME-80, might this be the source of error? Continue reading “Reverse delay trouble”

Neunaber Expanse vs. Source Audio Nemesis

This is a comparison of the Neunaber Expanse with the Source Audio Nemesis.
The Neuaber Expanse is quite more than a reverb. Thus, I compare different settings of both pedals like tape and digital. But also modes like scatter (Expanse) versus rhythmic (Nemesis) and echelon stock (Expanse) versus digital mode (Nemesis). Last but not least, you will get a demo of how both pedals sound in the mix.

Neunaber Expanse as a delay

In this video, I used the Neunaber Expanse as a delay.
Most people use it as a reverb effect, but through the Neunaber App you can also download several delay algorithms. The additional EXP Controller allows to choose between up to four different presets.
For it is stereo, please use your headphones!

Midi for pedalboards: Is it only bling-bling or does it make sense?

Tips & tricksTo many guitarists, midi is still a mystery. Although midi is nothing new. Initially, it has been used mostly by keyboarders. Maybe this is the reason why so many guitarists refuse to use midi as well. But besides some disadvantages, even guitarists can benefit from midi. Continue reading “Midi for pedalboards: Is it only bling-bling or does it make sense?”
