The first tape delay emulations
For a long time, the sound of a good tape delay is considered as the ideal delay for guitarists.
On the one hand the sound of a tape delay mostly is more warm and full than the sound of a digital delay on the other hand the tape delay sounds not as dull or wooly like an analog delay sometimes does. Continue reading “The first tape delay emulations”
Why do I not sound like my idol?
Some guitarists might think “Stevie Ray Vaughan uses an Ibanez Tubescreamer – when I get myself a Tubescreamer too, I will sound like him.” Or “Eric Johnson is using a BK Butler Tube Drive for his lead tone, by using the same pedal I will also create exactly this sound.” Continue reading “Why do I not sound like my idol?”

By creating haunting mids the sound of the guitar becomes more assertive and will be perceived much more in the context of the band as a whole. Ask the Dude: True Bypass vs. Buffer
“True bypass” – I guess, there is no term that is mentioned more frequently relating to the presentation of a new pedal. What does “true bypass” mean and does it have any advantages? Continue reading “Ask the Dude: True Bypass vs. Buffer”
Analogman ARDX20 vs. Ibanez ADmini
Analogman ARDX20 vs. Ibanez ADmini
This is a short comparison of two analog delay pedals:
The ARDx20 is a boutique delay by Analogman. It is an analog pedal with numerous features: two different settings, effect-loop amm. The Ibanez Admini also is analog and because of its size pretty “pedalboard-friendly”.
Both pedals are based on the old Ibanez AD-9 from the 80s.
