Das Diamond Memory Lane 2 oder das AnalogMan ARDX20?
Für welches Pedal du dich in Abhängigkeit von deinem Wunschsound entscheiden solltest.
ARDX 20
Das ARDX20 fügt sich perfekt in das Klangsignal der Gitarre ein und eignet sich sehr gut als Slapback oder um beispielsweise den Lead Tone anzudicken. Für rhythmische Delays im Stil von U2 ist es dagegen nicht so gut geeignet. Es kappt die Höhen und zum Teil auch die Bässe und wirkt dadurch immer wie ein Teil des Gitarrensignals.
Das ARDX20 basiert auf dem Ibanez AD9 der 80er und klingt stark nach einem Vintage Delay. Gerade mit einem angezerrten Gitarrensound klingt es hervorragend.
Wenn man noch das Amazeo von AnalogMan hinzukauft, das es leider nur noch gebraucht gibt, hat man auch die Möglichkeit das Signal zu tappen oder mit Modulation zu versehen. Es gibt übrigens Gerüchte, dass AnalogMan nächstes Jahr ein neues Analog-Delay rausbringt, das das ARDX20 mit dem Amazeo in einem kleineren Gehäuse vereint. Da lohnt es sich vielleicht, noch etwas abzuwarten.
Memory Lane 2
Das Memory Lane 2 ist aufgrund seines Tonreglers flexibler. Es kann natürlich auch subtil eingestellt werden, aber wenn man den Tonregler zum Beispiel auf 2 Uhr stellt, kann man ein Delay erzeugen, dass klanglich etwas mehr hervortritt. Die eingebaute Tap-Funktion und die Modulation funktionieren sehr gut und klingen ausgesprochen gut.
Der einzige Nachteil des Memory Lane 2 ist vielleicht die Größe.
Das Memory Lane 2 wird leider nicht mehr hergestellt und das kleinere Memory Lane Jr. ist ein digitales Delay .
Insgesamt hat das Memory Lane 2 einen perkussiven Anschlag, der mir für einen cleanen Sound besser gefällt, als das ARDX20.
Fazit
Wenn ich mich zwischen beiden entscheiden müsste, würde ich das Memory Lane 2 für cleane und das ARDX20 für angezerrte Sounds nehmen. Es kommt natürlich auch immer auf die verwendete Gitarre und den Amp an. Eventuell können die Bässe mit dem Memory Lane 2 auch zu sehr hervortreten.[:en]The Diamond Memory Lane 2 or the AnalogMan ARDX20?
Which pedal you should get depending on the sound you long for.
ARDX 20
The ARDX20 fits perfect into the sound of the guitar and is pretty suitable for slapback or – for example- to thicken the lead tone.
But to create rhythmical delays in the style of U2 you should choose another one. It cuts the treble, partly also the bass and therefore it will always sound like a part of the guitar-signal.
The ARDX20 is based on an Ibanez AD9 of the 80s and sounds like a vintage delay.
It sounds particularly good when your guitar-sound is lightly overdriven.
By adding the Amazeo by AnalogMan (which unfortunately only is available in used condition) you also get the possibility to complete the signal by tap tempo and modulation.
There are rumors that next year AnalogMan will put a new analog-delay on the market that unites the ARDX20 with the Amazeo in a small enclosure. Perhaps it is worthwhile to wait.
Memory Lane 2
The Memory Lane 2 is much more flexible because of its tone pot. Of course it also can be adjusted quite subtle but if you-for example- put the tone pot to 2 o’clock position you will be able to create delays that become more prominent.
The in-built tap tempo and the modulation work quite well and sound pretty nice.
The maybe only disadvantage of the Memory Lane 2 is its size.
Unfortunately the Memory Lane 2 is not produced anymore and the smaller Memory Lane Jr. is a digital delay.
Conclusion
All in all the Memory Lane has got a more percussive attack which, for a clean sound, I prefer to the ARDX20. If I had to decide between both I would choose the Memory Lane 2 for a clean sound and the ARDX20 for an overdriven sound.
And of course it depends on the guitar and the amplifier you are using. Maybe the Memory Lane 2 will accentuate the low end a little too much.[:]
